Online Poker Sites

So are we ever going to be able to play poker again online or are the sites blocked for good. I know the casino's here are happy becasue the rooms are filling up and the underground poker clubs are jammed with fish that can't swim online and get eatten by the sharks.

I love playing live games better than online something about the atomospher, sitting at the table shuffling the chips feeling the cards and looking your appoinents in the eyes.

However, I also love the comfort and convienice of playing at home. rolling out of bed in my underware or PJ's and logging on and playing any game I want. No line ups no waiting for a seat (unless i want to wait for a specific table) having shark scope or another HUB running my stats an the stats of the fish I play.

PLO-Polt Limit Omaha Tournament of idiots

So here i am Playing in a PLO 6 man tournament. Tjhis Tournament is a re-buy with double auto add on. So straight away you know that for the firsat couple of hours you are gonna be playing against total morons. That is exactly what happened to me although i didn't let their stupidity get to me. I discovered that the majority of the dumb players are playing PLO just if they were playing NLHE. for those of you that understand poker and the variety of games. the game is the same in that you make the best hand with 5 cards.  However the theory and strategies change from game to game. starting hands  etc. but these players were just playing on the same NLHE principals and in PLO you can't play that way.

So i took a few  bad beats to typical opening hands like KK, AA etc where i called the raise with 3567 double suited  and then with As,Ks,10s,9d and i got beat to a boat on the river. thats ok. however after the re-buy period and addon period i build my stack up to $15000. and i open with Ac,Jc,6d,6s. and get called buy the only player who is a threat. She ahs been calling me and defending against me all day. The flop comes Ad,6c,4d I make a pot size bet and she calls me. the turn 5d. now I'm in a position to have a  boat draw. with top pair I move all in. and she calls me with nothing but a diamond draw total air with a diamond draw which given the number of cards dealt the odds are less than in HLNE but we will asume a 18% chance. River 10d poof my PLO tournament is over.

I guess im a bit frustrated at this point that because i was running hot the last few weeks and now it just seems cold getting drawn out on and bad beats are taking a toll n me right now. I also understand what Jean Robert Bellande is feeling like! HOWEVER HE IS ENJOYING the life of a millionaire in his Aria suite and free rolling life. but when it comes to poker i know i can play and Rober Bellande can play too.

As i always say i don't need luck, I just don't want any bad luck.

See ya at the tables or leaning on the rail

PLAYING JOKER POKER

I recently had the opportunity as aways to play in an online tournament on Poker Stars and i was amazed at the level of stupidity in the majority of players in the tournament. One guy played every hand and was the chip leader with 250k in chips. it was just amazing that luck played such a factor in his game. I began to wonder if this player along with many others actually know how to play the game? Becasue it was obvious that without the luck most of these players would never survive in any real poker game.

Should a player that know hoe to play tournaments and cash games get discouraged by this or should they hammer down and play stronger poker? It makes me very angry when i see players just playing stupid and calling every hand because good players that know the math and the game theory often get knocked out to stupid players who are drawing to 4 outs in a tournament and put there whole tourny life on the line for 4 outs and they hit the 95% on the river not thinking that they are dominated.

Now i realize that when playing online tournamnets and the blind structure is 5 or 10 min that you have to play a wider range of hands to try and build up a chip stack vs playing a live tournamnet with blinds 20-30or 40 min in some cases they are 1 hour so you can fold off four flush draws while on line a four flush draw is an auto all in ( or so it seems) but you are still only 36% to hit.

I guess overall it is frustrating that TV has really brought out the fish to the game in a cash game they would die off real fast but i guess in a cheap $2 + $0.20 re-buy tournament ATC are ok to play and Luck is the real player here not the actual players.

As i have always said, i do not luck my skills are good enough, i just don't want bad luck!!

See u at the tables or on the rail...

One Table SnG's

As you all know i am known for my Tournamnet and cash game play like an entertainer who is known as a triple threat in the industry, would be considered a real talent!

I have been doing consistantly well in my online and live cash games as well in my tournament play. Particularlly in my single table 10 man SNG!!

I have become a force int he SNG world at the $55 and $110 dollar tournaments becasue i play the speed games it onoly allows you 15 sec to make a decision. this is advantageous because if you you play pressure poker (PP) like i like to play and punish your appoinents you can really get away with a lot.

Now when i say pressure poker i don't mean stupid poker i mean you still have play your position and with cards that can do something unless you know the person to your left  so you can push him around. SO i have been playing the SNG now fopr the last 10 days and i ahve played in 20 of them, I have won 8 putting me up in the black however some of the games are 5-50 whihc means that the top five get paid and the pot i\s split into 50% equally and you get an additional $2 / 100 chips or $0.25 / 100 chips? it depends on the game you are playing. the reason i like this is that you can make a move for chips real fast and players will want to gamble early so if you pick up a hand early you can make a move tot he front and if not you can hold back and wait for the more loose and stupid players to get knocked out. either way you can make the money in these types of SNG's.

If you are unfamilair with the format start out in a low game like the $1 or $2 play then for a while build your self a style and learn the game becaseu it is a bit more aggressive than a larger tournament becasue you have to make your move and get chips the blinds go up and if you sit back too long you will get anted out like Doyle's old friend "Broomcorn" he anted himself to death you don't wanna do that.

I like Part Poker's SnG but i also like PokerStars becasue these two sites i am workin on endorsements so they are awesome sites to play on get in there and Sit N GO!!!

These games can make you a great deal of income and provide you that great trip to Vegas to play in the real games...So if you are online and playing as always keep your eyes open for me "Da Nutz" and until then. Don't sit on the rail hoping, get in there and play!!!

High Stakes Poker

Hi Again Poker Fans!!!

I want to write and tell you about an episode i saw on High Stakes poker. The Line up was impressive with players such as Antonio Esfandiari, Doyle Brunson, Pete Viffer , Vanessa Selbet and some buisness men who showed up to try and stick it to the pros like Phill Ruffin ( owner of Treasure Island Hotel and Casino and Billionaire) Mr. Silly bands himself Mr. Kroch and another budsiness man called Mr. Klien ( who was playing for his foundation).

The game was action packed with pots exceedign the $100K limit on almost each hand. its nice when a Billionaire and a few Multi Millionaires show up to play the $300/$600 NLHM. As i watched the session i picked up on a few patterns of the ametures and the simpliest was of Phill Ruffin and in this last hand it goes to show you that to beat amatures or recreZtional players, you do with fundamentals not bluffing. That was a lession that Pete "Viffer" learned to the tune of over $200K.

The blinds are $300/$600 and there was an staddle of $1600 so the staddle got raised in early position by Viffer and it was folded around to Ruffin in the BB. So Viffer raises UTG it to $6000 PF and ruffin calls in the BB. The Flop comes off K,A,6. Ruffin checks and Viffer bets $20k, Ruffin flats calls. Now with a Preflop raise it is possible that Viffer has an A, maybe A, rag because rasies UTG are usually representive of a strong starting hand and callin gin the BB could also represent a hadn like Arag or K,J K,Q, K10, etc. it was obvious that Ruffin was not giving Viffer much respect for his hand or perhaps it is just a Billionaire thinking that perhaps his one pair is good?

Now the Turn hitsd the boared and it is a J, still not muuch of card if you have the A or K? Ruffin Checks and Viffer bets $50K and Ruffin flat calls..now are you thinking its Arag against a bigger A or trips against and A? Ruffin is check calling, so if he has the K against an A why would he ch call a $50K bet? becasue he is a Billionaire?

The river comes and it's a blank. So what is the magic number to bet to win this hughe pot right here on the turn?  Viffer bets $100K , now what do you thnk he has? he rasied UTG and fired two more bulles and now the third barell fro 100K with a total of 180K invested what do you think you are up against? Ruffin doesn't even think about it and he calls the $100K so the pot is now is $312K and guess what gets turned over???

Ruffin Shows K4off and Viffer Mucks?? HE MUCKS HIS CARDS, he mucked 9,3off suit!!! can you belive it, 9,3 off and Ruffin called all the way through with K,4 off? who made the right play?
Did Viffer play right and represnt an A becasue of his UTG raise or did Ruffin play correct by just Ch calling? being a billionaire we can deduce that the money was nto the issue because that is considered small ball for a billionaire but for Viffer it is not small ball. maybe Viffer could have knocked him off on the turn with an all in? or maybe Ruffin would have called no matter what. the moral of this story is that when you are playing against an amature or recreational player you can't play complicated styles because if they play Krag and hit a K even with an A on board they are no thinkjing of the game the same as we are. they are thinking i have a "K"!!! my one pair is good plus its a KING!!! and they will call you all the way down. Viffer should have known this and got away from the hand after the flop.

It does leand it self to two good lessions , and on eis that you have to beat recreational players no matter how big or small they are by playing fundamentals. thge second great lession is that when yo uplay against Ruffin and he is Ch calling you , yo uknow he has one pair and he plays alot of typical cards now. So i would love to play against him becasue i think i would win a lot of money. Phill if you are reading this, I would like to come by TI and visit you, you made everyone scared at that table but maybe they picked up some tells against you. I can show a few things to tighten your game up and blast through those pros...Well done and nice hand. Great pot!!!

I'll see ya 'll at the tables real soon. Holen them close to you chest and SHIP when you have the best of it.

WCOOPand the luck factor of large online poker torunaments

The WCOOP is just one day away, are you ready to play and and see if you are the best Online Poker Player in the World? Qualifying Tournaments are running on Poker Stars.com and Poker Stars.net for a little as $11.00. How can you not play in a qualifying tournament for $11.00 and a chance to be entered into the final WCOOP Tournament and your chance to over $1M in prize money!!

Online poker tournaments are becoming increasing harder to cash in, the number of entrants in some of the tournaments are astronomical and the luck factor is becoming too much of an issue. The recklessness of some players and overall lack of thought process in some fo the calls and PF all in's . The VPIP of some players just indicates a lack of knowledge and position of play. For those of use that understrand the abilities of agression and when to use or as the industry calls "changing gears"  will always cause us to come out ahead statistically but i do have to admit, when I'm playing good and some fool come sin to pl;ay "Bingo Poker" and i raise PF with  AA and the fool re-raises me in a tournamnet that has gone 2/3'rds of the way out of position with J2 off and we both have equal amount of chips relavent to the leader whihc means we are in the top 20 chip leaders, and i re-raise him thinking he knows that I'm playing solid poker only to find out he calls me. The flop hits the board and of course he hits two pair!! Js, 2s, 7d!!! He pushes all in for the remining 1/3 of his chip stack , some would automatically call with the bullets and only 1/3 chips remaing however, here is the difference between good players and great players. I thought it through...possibly Trips, which makes me a big underdog, if he is on a flush draw, I am a favorite, no straight draws so the only thing left to do is ....BET with less than 20 BB i SHIPPED IT..i got called and i instantly thought.TRIPS..but no...TWO PAIR J,2!!!! of couse at that point i was a hughe underdog and i didn't hit my A so I got knocked out!!!

The moral of my story is still unknown to me. Did I play bad? i don't think so. did i make the wrong move after the flop? again i don't think so, the out come would have beent he same if i shipped it pre-flop? maybe that is where i went wrong, but he didn't play the hand right to start of with when he calls my re-raise with J2 off that was just bad poker he comitted 2/3rds of his chips. I can't understand. Barry GReenstien once said in High Stakes Poker that math is IDIOTIC when he put a bad beat on Tom "DURRR" Dwan for a pot of over $500,000.00. Well Barry my hat is off to you becasue this guy didn't know math, didn't poker, didn't knowe position but he still won.

Is it turn that if in a cash game i could have just re-bought and over time i would have takern all his chips? Maybe becasue in this Game Luck only takes you so far. I believe that. it was his lucky day and I couldn't buy back in. I just had to suck it up and chaulk it up as another learning experience on the felt!!!

So remember get you money in when you have the best of it, the out come will be the same and all you can do is know you made the right moves at the right time!

Sign up for your chance to play at the WCOOP and see if you can out beat some of the fish that are out there. Play solid and over the long run you will come out ahead.

Stay tuned for my next article on Money mangement, bank rolls and being staked. It's sure to help and entertain you.

thanks for stopping by and reading .... Keep the cards close to you chest!!!

WPT Royal Flush Girls

So i wanted to write a bit about the Royal Flush Girls of the WPT. There is no doubt that these women are beautiful but what do they have in common with poker? Do any of them evn know the game or how to play it? I would presume that they know how to play but they are not by any means REAl poker players.

Having this been said do they really represent the game or is it a sexual play that the WPT is using to lure men and women to watch? What are you thoughts? I am interested in knowing if you think that women models ( that is what they are) being used to advertise and promote the game is a good thing or should we use goodlooking women who are in the game now ( there are a lot of them) to promote the game? I am on the fence with issue but I also understand the business model behind the idea and it is smart business advertising and promoting to use these professinal models as front persons for the game.

I would suggest that using the poker women is much harder to use as models when they are consentrating on playing the game so mybe this is the only viable way for the promotion to go?

Give us your idea and thoughts and tell us which  Royal Flush Girl is you Favorite!!

Either way the Royal Flush Girls are hot and they always look good so if it brings viewers tot he TV or the rail keep it up....
