In recent article throughout the poker media there has been a lot of talk about whether or not Canada has what it takes to run and sustain a REAL Canadian Poker Tour ( CPT). The reports have shown that entries into some of the major Canadian poker Tour Tournaments have dropped of significantly? I have seen some of the reports and the numbers don't lie! I am disappointed in the turn outs and registraion numbers so i want to make it my duty to help and participate in the turn around of the Canadian Poker Tour. A tour that can be not only sustainable, but classy, prestigious and above all having world wide recognition!
During the beginning of the summer of 2011, i ahd the opportunity to visit The Royal Poker Room ( RPR), Toronto's new and hottest poker room and home of the Toronto Poker Tour ( TPT) during their renovations. I was BLOWN AWAY by this place! This Poker Room is going to be the jewel of the Toronto Poker community in fact, I belive it will be the centre of Poker for Canada.
The site is convienietly located a short disitance outside the down town core of Toronto, Ontario, Canada it provide more than adequate parking, shuttle service and limosine service for members and non members alike. The site itself is very large but it's divided up into three main areas, the cash game area, the tounement area and the social/dinning area. There is also an area called the "Bank" and this is of course the area where every poker player wants to spend his or her time cashing chips and raking in your profits. The "bank has some very unique qualities that players and members will absolutley love. As a memeber you will be able to purcahse one of three memebrships. The Royal memebrship, The TPT membership or The High Card Memebrship. All are exclusive and each provides the player with it's unique product and services tailored to the players needs. You can visit the website for each memenrship and the lists of products and services that accompay each individual membership. Let me just say this, no matter whihc one you choose, they are all worth having. If you are a poker player then there is no othe rplace you wanna be. The Royal Poker Room will be home to some of the biggest names in Canadian Poker and it will not be long before the list grows to international names as well.
The rooms are all being done is beautiful thick mahogony wood trim accented with gerougus gold pinstripped wall coverings. mahogony wynescotting and brilliant multi coloured carpeting. the seats are lush and comfortable with compplimenting coveringa to the walls and carpeting offering up a very chic and posh setting that is comfortable and classy.
The torunament area will boast large paintings and photographs of Canadian poker icons and worldwide poker champions. The space can house up to 100 tounament tables 20 LED tv's posted all around the room hanging fromt he cieling and wall mounted so players have the easy viewing from all angles. There is a registration area complimented by a hosts area. The unique thing about this tournament room if i I haven't already blown you away is that it is also set up with a main table area rasied and stantioned off for the FINAL TABLE !!! Oh did i forget to mention that the room is also Studio ready for video taping and interviewing players for television!!! ESPN, HBO, The Score, get ready the RPR and the TPT will be bring you the hottest poker events in the nation!!!
The cash game room is equally posh housing 50 cash game tables and a seperate High Stakes Room. It's rumered that the room will be called "Daniell's Room" ????? i guess we will have to wait and see that on opening day. The cash game room provides all the poker games we love from NLHem to 5 and 7 card stud, Omaha, PLO, Omaha Hi/low, Chicago and other games as well. The room will be packed witht eh NHLem games ranging from 1/2 NLHem right up to the HIgh Stakes $300/$600 NLHem with buy in's ranging from $200 to $100,000. the room has spectacular lighting and complimented with LED TV's throught the entrie room like the tournament room hanging from the ceilings and on the walls. providing players ease of viewing. The Cash game room will be serviced by a staff of un parrelled hospitality, catering to the players every need. The tables are large and comfortable with side tables for food and drinks. There will be no drinks of food permitted on the tables. The tables are all custom made with leather rails and beautifully complimenting coloured cloth.
The scocial room is designed with the same materials however the theme in this room is one of staure and caliber. The prestige is unparralled to any other and compliments all levels of players. So you don't have to feel uncomfortable if you are only playing a $200 buy in cash game. This room whihc is seperated from into two rooms a seating and casual oom and the dinner room. the social room housesa bar, and several tables for members and customers to lounge and discuss thier bad beats and huge pots. it has a very clasy bar that serves everyhing from a glas of ice water to a sifter of Louis the 14th at $200/oz. there are LED TV's conviently located and chairs and stools are complimenting and comforable. in this room you can order drinks and meals. This room offers cigars and a cigar locker. The ventilation is equal to that of a casino and the smoke is sucked out as if a vacum was sucking the dirty from a carpe
The dinning area is formal, jackets are a must boyz, so shake off those sweat pants and t-shirts and pull out the Armani becasue you are Dinning at the "ROYAL". that's the name of this room. and everything about it is Royalty!! Need i say more?
The Bank area is amazing. the set up is like you are in a vault in a Swedish bank. You walk through a hugh vault door into an area of caged tellers. but the room is secured, video survalance and secuity. Aside form the eye catching set up, there is the "Vault" this si the unquie part of the cage that interests me. Members have can have thier own safet box or personal box that holds their chips for them. if they ar enot intersted in cashing intheir chips and they want to hold onto some for the next day they can cash out what they want and just leave the rest in their secured safety box in the vault.
So to that end, the Royal Poker Room is going to be the epic centre of poker in Toronto and that of Canada. It has plans to team up with some of the leading online poker rooms to sponsor and endorse promotional tournaments, charity events and telivised events.
Thr Royal Poker Room is also going to lead the way in revitilizing the Canadian Poker Tour and make this the Royal Poker Room home to the Canadian Poker Tour.
